3rd International Classical Guitar Competition (April/May 2024)

 

Regulations​

  1. The competition is open for all guitarists born in 1992 and younger.

  2. ​The First round will take place online in video form on Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th 2024.

  3. The maximum of 8 candidates will advance to the Second (semi-final) round that will take place live at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, 33, rue Charles Martel L-2134 Luxembourg, on Friday 10th May 2024.

  4. ​Four candidates will advance to the Final round that will take place live at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, 33, rue Charles Martel L-2134 Luxembourg, on Sunday, May 12th 2024.

  5. The registration and the video for the First round must be submitted via www.guitarfestival.lu website not later than Sunday 24th March 2024 at 23.59 CET. Any registrations and videos received after that time will not be considered.

  6. Competitors must provide a download link for the video, not a streaming link. The video can be in “mp4”, “avi” or “mov” format, minimum resolution HD Ready 720p (1280 x 720px) and maximum size 1GB.

  7. The video must be unedited, in one stationary shot from the beginning to the end of the entire program (not stopping the camera between pieces). The competitor’s face and both hands must be in the frame and clearly seen. The upper body should occupy approximately 75% of the frame. The competitor should ensure adequate sound and lighting quality and make sure to film in a landscape mode.

  8. At the beginning the video should include a verbal introduction of the candidate: Name, surname, country of origin and the purpose of the recording (“First round of the International Classical Guitar Competition at Luxembourg Guitar Festival 2024”).

  9. The First round program should include between 12 and 15 minutes of music featuring at least two different styles/periods of the competitor’s choice.

  10. The Second round program should include up to 18 minutes of music featuring at least two different styles/periods of the competitor’s choice and including at least one movement from one of the sonatas listed here.

  11. The Final round program should include up to 20 minutes of music featuring at least two different styles/periods of the competitor’s choice and including at least two movements from one of the sonatas listed here.

  12. Competitors cannot perform the same composition/movement in different rounds of the competition.

  13. Competitors must perform the compositions by heart.

  14. The order of candidates for the competition in both rounds will be determined by alphabetical order.

  15. Registration fee for the competition is €80. The fee is nonrefundable.

  17. Candidates who have not received a confirmation of their registration by March 27th 2024, please contact us at contact@guitarfestival.lu

  18. An official announcement of the semi-finalists will be made on Saturday, April 20th 2024 and will be posted on the LGF social networks and website.

  19. An official announcement of the finalists will be made on Friday, May 10th 2024 and will be posted on the LGF social networks and website.

  20. The prize winners will be announced directly after the Final round in the Auditorium of the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg on Sunday, May 12th 2024 and on the festival’s website and social networks.

  21. The decisions of the jury are final and subject to no right of appeal.

  22. The cash prize after the Final round will be transferred to the competitor’s account.

  23. The candidates agree to be interviewed, photographed and recorded throughout the competition. The images and interpretations of the candidates, as well as their name and surname, may be used by the Organizer without prior authorization and without any financial compensation, in particular on the website www.guitarfestival.lu or the social networks the LGF. The candidates grant the LGF the right to record, tape, reproduce or have reproduced their performances on any medium whatsoever, and to broadcast them by any means, whether live or recorded, on television or radio, including the Internet, cable networks, terrestrial or other, in Luxembourg or abroad. The assignment is valid for the candidates' performances in the competition for a period of 99 years starting from the respective performances. The candidates further accept that their images and interpretations, as well as their name and surname, may be used by the Organizer, unless otherwise specified, for promotional purposes for future editions of the LGF.
